Cry Problems with iDVD burning, could befor can't now?

I have had a little experience with mac's, I am getting a degree in graphic art and have studied video and photo and design programs and when I got my G5 I wanted it set for ART and music. I need to know why I can't burn on my iDVD program when there is only 2.5 GB on the disk and 4.7 fits. Before I could burn and now It runs forever and freezes, when I ran a test it came out ok. It says all processes and my burner is working. I have checked my DVD-R, it is on the top list in grade. I dumped as much as I could to my iPod and on DVD RW's to get photos and songs off, old imovies and old quicktimes too. I could of dumped something I need to burn, I don't know... What else do I need to check or do??? I am trying to help a friend with a birthday movie and pictures and it is upsetting her that I cannot get this done from Jan till now I'v been trying to finish this. Can Any one help me, I am running out of time and ideas. I am not real literate of MAC, just familiar with the programs and some quirks about burning from school it always ate my finals and my professor seamed to be used to that. Does someone have a system that works for them when they are constructing a video with these tools...quicktime, imovie, itunes, idvd or final cut pro(know less about this) my professor used imovie more..?

Re: Problems with iDVD burning, could befor can't now?

I've never have had any issues. My question is how much free hard disk space do you have? You should have around 10% of the drive's total size free, no less than 5gig just for the OS to do what it needs. And then you'll need about 20 more gig free for working on iMovie/iDVD projects. So, if you have less than 25gig free on your hard drive, that would be what I'd say the problem is.
