start up desk help?
how can i activate the "repair" botton from desk utilities as i am getting an error msg when i try to verify the desk? i have G4 ibook 10.4.10
thats the msg i am getting Verifying volume “macintosh H.D” Checking HFS Plus volume. Checking Extents Overflow file. Checking Catalog file. Incorrect block count for file Info.plist (It should be 1 instead of 0) Checking multi-linked files. Checking Catalog hierarchy. Checking Extended Attributes file. Overlapped extent allocation (file Overlapped extent allocation (file brary/Caches/com.apple.ATS/502/annex_aux) Overlapped extent allocation (file 1812367 /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaScriptCore.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist) Checking volume bitmap. Volume Bit Map needs minor repair Checking volume information. Invalid volume free block count (It should be 2029065 instead of 2029062) The volume macintosh H.D needs to be repaired. Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit 1 HFS volume checked Volume needs repair |

you can not repair the startup disk, you have to either boot from a different disk, or the os install cd to do repairs on the startup disk. so dig out the cds that came with the mac new, and boot from the install cd. then from the applications menu, select disk utilities and then repair the disk.
