ibook startup issues
i have an ibook g3 500/20/384 running 10.4.8. i closed the lid and the computer didn't go to sleep as usual, when I opened I had to press the power button to get it on. The usual grey screen with the apple and the progress wheel came up then the starting up osx screen with progress bar then the blue screen right before the login window, but no login window. The blue screen flickers every now and then and the black progress wheel and the pointer flash alternately. I start up using osx install disk, open disc utility, run repair disc on mac hd but the disc repair stops because of problem with something called a sibling link. I tried repairing permissions and that worked so I tried repair disc again and got the same error message. I have no idea what this means. Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone know how I can get some files out of the hd before I use this f'n thing as a discuss?
