Mac Operating System
I've always used Windows as my operating system for both my laptop and home PC. If I do a clean install on a non-Mac PC can I install the Mac operating system and a non-Mac notebook?

It's not possible to install a notebook on a PC because notebooks are not a type of software. As for installing Mac OS on a non-Mac PC after a clean install: it doesn't seem to matter whether you have a clean install on your system before installing Mac OS because the new OS will overwrite the one you have just installed, so this is a sort of irrelevant question.
It is illegal and relatively difficult to put OS X on non-Mac hardware, but take a look at ****. This sounds like what you're after despite your garbled way of asking for it. Last edited by sinclair_tm; 03-05-2007 at 09:27 PM. |

The garbling that you mention is a typo. I'm sorry about the confusion. I should proofread my type before submitting it. That's the reason for the confusion. The question is pretty simple and I'm pretty sure you answered my question. The proper question would be if it's possible to format the HDD of a non-Mac PC and install a Mac operating system in that non-Mac Pc. Its to switch from Windows to OS X. And this would be with the legal purchase of a Mac software operating system. Is it really illegal even if you purchased the OS X legally to install it on a non-Mac PC?

lol that's ok we all jot down questions quickly sometimes :)
Yes, it really is illegal, buried somewhere in the depths of the licence agreement. Last edited by kodi; 03-05-2007 at 09:20 PM. |
