OS: os x 10.4.8

I have three macs connected to a netgear dg834g wireless router, 2 wired and one via airport. All running 10.4.8.
The router is connected to the internet via ADSL in the UK, with micro filters etc. On each of the machines I occasionally I get the message "you are not connected to the internet" appearing in safari. This message appears quite quickly, after say 10 seconds. It even appears as I am downloading from the internet at the same time. On a refresh or two the requested page appears. I have tried reconnecting all cables I have also done the usual, emptied cache, repaired permissions etc. I changed the router at christmas from an older netgear model as I needed the wireless for a new macbook and the problem has only appeared recently (last month). Could this be a fault with the router or could this be a fault with my isp? Is there any tests I could perform to check the router and rule it out of the equation? Thanks for any suggestions. |

Mac Method Wiz -- Manager

it could be any number of things. easiest way is to look at the modem. my dsl modem has light on it telling me what is connected. it has 2 lights, one for a connection, and one for data. the data one should flash whenever i am uploading/downloading/surfing the web. the other light is steady on when there is a connection, blinking when its trying to connect, and off when theres nothing. see if yours has like lights and see what they are doing.
