I just purchased a battery for my 14" laptop (Ibook). Is there anything special that I should know about replacing the battery before I take the old battery out and replace it with the new one? I am not a computer geek, just a moderately experienced computer user who has never changed a battery and cannot afford to lose my data. Thanks. macduffso

Hello, and welcome to TSF.
You can just change it, no problems. Look after it well though. Take a look at this for looking after them: http://www.techsupportforum.com/arti...n-battery.html It isn't published yet though, but still good. |

you will not lose any data by replacing the laptop battery, as long as the laptop is off. just turn the little screw to release the old battery, put the new one in, and turn the screw to hold it in place, and plug the laptop back in and turn it on and then let it fully charge before taking it on the road again.
