Parental Controls for Apple Base Station
I am a system administrator for a private school. We have 24 Mac's in our lab all running OS X 10.3 and above. I have been trying to give my students as much freedom to explore as possible but there are a few sites they need to be protected from. I am running DSL using Bellsouth (which parental controls does not support Mac OS X) with a Netopia 3300 modem/router with a Apple Extreme Base Station. When I was using a D-link wireless router it enabled me to block specific sites directly from the router keeping me from running filtering software on all the computers. I can not find a similar option for the Apple Base Station or the Netopia and using AOL parental settings from the Base Station is a joke. Using parental controls with Safari using user accounts is too limiting I would appreciate any tips you may have before I have to purchase Content Barrier or something similar. It would be nice to control access from the router and not have to cripple each computer by keeping up with content protection from each station.

Mac Method Wiz -- Manager

being i don't have one of these, i'm not sure how to help you. as you are a school, you should be able to call up apple, or head to the local apple store, and get them to let you know how to do it. at least that has been my experience.
