Hi,
Is there any way I can manually force the CPU to operate at 2.0GHz? I have one of the original black MacBooks (2.0GHz Core Duo). I've had CoreDuoTemp in my menu bar for a couple months, showing temp, CPU usage, and CPU frequency. The frequency used to change from 1.0 to 1.5 to 2.0 without any intervention from me, seemingly depending on the load on the processor (this is with the charger plugged in). When performing several processor-intensive tasks, the CPU usage would go to ~100% and the frequency to 2.0. For some reason, the maximum frequency it will go to now is only 1.0GHz (still at ~100% usage). Needless to say, tasks are taking a LOT longer. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! |

Welcome to TSF.
Is the battery unplugged? I've read of MacBooks only running at 1.0 GHz when the battery is not plugged in. As far as the 1.5 GHz, it appeared that that happened when the computer went idle.

have you installed the developers tools? for the ppc based macs, they include a cpu tool that can give additional setting for the cpu. they should be included on the os install disk that came with the mac. if not, they are free from apple, after signing up for a developer's account.
