Oracle9i on Fedora Core 4

Coming soon.....I will be doing my own write up/set of instructions for installing Oracle9i on Fedora Core 4. I must have fought with it for about 6 hours. No single document I found had all the pieces. I would resolve one problem, then run into another.....do another Google search, and find something on another document not even related to Fedora Core 4 that worked to correct my problem. I've installed Oracle9i on Linux before, but never on Fedora. All I wanted was to set up Recovery Manager (RMAN) so that I could play with it before my exam!

After all of the hair pulling, and getting everything to work as it should, I decided I will write my own write up and post it to the web! Be on the look out for it soon. Will probably work on it next week after my DB Fundamentals II exam!!! So for anyone looking to install Oracle9i on Fedora Core 4.....WATCH THIS SPACE!!!

My System

I have supported a few database applications, and Oracle has to be my favorite. I'm currently studying for my 3rd of 4 exams to obtain my OCP in Oracle9i. I can then take the "What's New" exam for 10g to upgrade. This is why I ventured into Oracle on Fedora Core 4. I needed to do a 9i installation to play with Recovery Manager. I have always performed user-managed backups until now, and I hear the test is at least 50% Recovery Manager questions!

Well, as promised, here is a first round draft of my write up on installing Oracle9i on Fedora Core 4....
