The instructions frys give out do not work. They say to make a boot disk and and run the "del-pat" utility. http://www.fryssupport.net/downloads...151__2005_.pdf
It doesn't work. I tried it and the system was severely messed up and I ended up putting linspire back on the system. A family member told me that since I deleted the partition the hard disk was unformatted. How do I format it to FAT32 to install windows or how do I get linspire off of the system and win98 onto it? I tried microsoft and they want to charge $35 dollars for support. |

This is a very confusing post. What are you trying to do?
The Fry's info looks like directions for making bootable floppies. They're not describing a way to get a free copy of Win98 if that's what you're trying to accomplish. Do you have a Win98 or better yet Win98SE CD? If so, go into BIOS, make sure the PC will go to the CD drive before the HDD, then toss the CD in and follow the directions. If you need to format the HDD, go to a friend's house and d/l Darin's BootNuke - follow the directions to make a floppy that will format the HDD. The Win98 CD will format the drive as FAT32. If you don't have a MS CD then you're kind of without a paddle I don't know how linspire works but I'm pretty sure most Linux distros have a program like gparted and you can use that to look at what partitions are on your HDD and what file formats. |
