help on ubuntu

hi
i have a ubuntu breezy badger installation

i have a huawei MT882 dsl usb modem

i can't connect to internet from ubuntu even after setting up the ip address, dns, etc as given in modem manual.

ubuntu even shows me the ethernet port when modem is connected an turned on.

please advice

If it's that close to working, try disabling the Linux firewall (shorewall) It can stop a connection from working. I have had many frustrating hours over this same type thing.

ubuntu doesn't have shorewall, it only has IPtables, which should be down until you set them... try running dhclient... just go to command prompt and type dhclient in...
