Resolution changed. Linux Mandrake 10.1

Hey, I just started using Linux Mandrake 10.1, well... I installed it, wicked, got everything....

One problem... I changed the screen res. to 800 x 600 ... And I need it back to 1024 x 768... Any commands? Or anything I can do to get it back?

'Cause, my screen is all messed up... Just a bunch of lines going through the whole screen.

:(

Kind of tough to do when the display is undiscernable. You can change resolution on the fly by holding the CTL ALT and use the + & - keys to step through the available resolution settings. Give the X system a few seconds each time you enter + or - if not you will outrun it. When you get the display visible, then you can go to the display manager in the configure my computer menu to set the display correctly.

Looks like You changed both resolution and refresh rate for monitor. Log into "failsafe" or press "CTL"+"Alt"+"F3", to gain access to files, change to directory where "xorg.conf" file is ( should be /etc/X11 , unless you'd installed it somwhere else ), then edit the file with favourite editor to change the lines that force resolutions of monitor and video-card, or, if you were careful enough, just copy the backup file over the existing xorg.conf, reboot, and use GUI to set resolution. You do have the backup of xorg.conf, don't You? :)

Couldn't edit my previous post, just to add link to near-by thread with similar tematics:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/linu...all-issue.html

Unless you've used a "MetaMode" option (I cannot tell because I haven't seen a Mandrake installation for some time now), which would be close enough, but you'd be looking for "Options 'MetaModes'..." line to change.
