FC4 nvidia problems

I recently updated my kernel, so I wanted to update my graphics drivers also (have to be updated for the new kernel).
I tried updating to the nvidia 8178 drivers, but it kept giving me problems. So I tried this website:
http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_cor...es.html#nVidia

I followed all the directions, including trying to install version 7667. This is what happens:

It tells me that it already has a driver installed (8178) and that needs to be unintalled before installing the new one (7667). I click yes to that.
It then tells me it doesn't have a precompiled kernel interface and needs to look elsewhere, so I click yes again. It then tells me that no precompiled interface was found on nvidia's website, so I click okay. It then gives me this error:

"ERROR: Unable to find the kernel source tree for the currently running kernel. Please make sure you have installed the kernel source files for your kernel; on Red Hat Linux systems, for example, be sure you have the 'kernel-source' rpm installed. If you know the correct kernel source files are installed, you may specify the kernel source path with the '--kernel-source-path' commandline option."
I click okay to that and get:
"ERROR: Insallation has failed. Please see the file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' for details. You may find suggestions on fixing the installation problems in the README available on the linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com."

This is all done while logged into root, in init 3 with the x server killed. I try typing in 'yum search kernel-source' but there aren't any packages named that to install or update. I don't know where these source files are or where they would be if they were installed.
I can post the error log file if needed.

Thank you in advance.

Try searching for just "kernel" or just "source". The Nvidia drivers need the kernel source code to install properly. They should be available, I just don't know what they'd be called under Fedora.

I searched 'kernel' 'source' 'kernelsource' 'sourcekernel' 'kernel-source' and 'source-kernel'. Nothing came up.
So I deleted the new kernel and went back to the old one. The graphics drivers work again. I'm still not sure why this was happening. I might try upgrading the kernel again, maybe it didn't install the source files properly the first time. Anywho, it works for the time being until I play with settings and screw it up again. :-P

Strange that the source can't be found. Generally, the kernel and source are seperate RPM's so just installing the kernel won't give you the source. When you're ready to try again, let us know.
