networking linux
Hi, I am trying to get my linux box hooked up to the internet.
I have the following setup: Broadband connection via an ehternet modem -> network cable then goes to a wireless router (802.11b) -> network cable to a WinXP box. Linux box (SusE 9.3 Pro) in another room with an 802.11g PCI card. everything is set up and works but when I try to get the linux box to load a webpage I get a Cannot Be Found error message. Trying to connect the linux box to the router I get a Connection Refused error. By that I am assuming that the linux box is at least communicating with the router but not completing the connection. Anyone got any ideas why it isn't working? thanks Kev |

run IFconfig and see if you have just a loopback ip address(127.0.0.1) or an actual valid IP address. If It's valid ip address, try talking to the router, do you know what your router IP address is?
