MP3s with linux?

I'm pretty darn new to linux, and I know it doesnt come with mp3 codec support, ive heard there are some 'universal' packages though you can get... GStreamer8.0MPEG

How exactly do I get it?

Never experienced that before. X11Amp and Xine both played mp3's if I recall correctly.

You know I have no idea, see if you can find a program called xine and see if it opens your mp3s.

Send a message via AIM to stanthecaddy22
if you are running debian,

type
Code:
apt-get install xmms
after it is done installing start up xmms and the mp3's should play fine, that is if your sound is configured properly.

Or just use the music palyers already on the distro........

On FC3 (dunno if the packages are different from distro to distro) I have two already on here, and an audio ripper to put the mp3's in my /home/username directory.......

Most of the linux media players will play any file type you want. You just need the correct codec.
