Questions about Dual Boot [with ability to run windows apps]
ok, heres what i want to do.
i am looking to make a dual boot of XP Pro and one of the following flavors of linux: ReactOS FreeBSD Xandros Fedora Core 3 final but what i want is to be able to run windows applications as well on linux. not too many just a few fav programs. can anyone help me out here i know WINE can be installed on FreeBSD. can someone give me instructions on where to download WINE for FreeBSD and intructions on how to install WINE in FreeBSD and how can i resize my partition of windows. and in doing this will it cause any issues? i also need to know if i install a linux distro, say Xandros, and decide it's not to my liking, how can i uninstall and if i decide that linux is not for me... or if i just want linux on a seperate machine but keep windows on this machine how can i merge the open partition space? thanks in advance. - NoRiN - |

I've not had to uninstall Linux, but I can't figure it being too dificult. Wine HQ makes mention of Free BSD. Mind you Free BSD is not Linux, and I have no familiarity with it. Wine HQ is here. http://www.winehq.com/

thanks batty, after conversing some with elf i have decided to go with slackware 10.1 he has shown me some nifty things about it including his own server. this intrigues me. and he says he himself is new to linux. he says the transition to slackware wasn't so bad. when i had SuSE 9.1 i was a frequent member of another forum called linuxquestions.org.
i looked for a slackware install guide and have found a decent one could someone check it and see if this would be good for first timer slackware installers? reviews and other posts say it is a nice thread but i would like someone from my own community to check it for me. LQ.org - Slackware 10.1 Install guide i have also found a guide on how to share a fat32 file system wth linux is there a guide for sharing a NTFS partition with linux? FAT32 sharing any help and or other comments would be great thanks batty and elf for the help thus far. |
