OS: WinXP Pro & Fedora Core 3

newbie: sil3112 sata controller & Fedora 3

Please help.
i recently added a syba sb-sata150r sata controller (sil3112 chipset) card and Maxtor 250gb Sata Ultra16 HDD to my linux box (fedora core 3) so that i could add extra storage. i do not plan to install any os's on the drive or using raid, im just using it as media storage. However, once i install the drive i cannot boot up. The hang-up occurs when udev attemps to initialize and i get the message "disabling irq #10". If i unplug the drive, it boots up flawlessly. i checked my irq settings and the sata controller is #10, with no other devices at that value.

If anyone knows a workaround to this problem, please help me, im still learning linux.

thx
rps

I found a webpage for the item. But the links are dead. So I was unable to get any useful information that way. I did see something about the raid option being selectable. See if you can turn it off if it's currently enabled.
