Can DVD burner and floppy coexist in RH7?
We were told by our support folks that if we have a SCSI DVD burner in our work machine, it forgets about the floppy. Anybody ever seen such a thing and is there a workaround?

Are you seeing this or is this just what you're told? I don't see why this would happen, but stranger things have happened. The floppy should be at /dev/fd1 and the SCSI drives should be at /dev/sdaX (where X is the number in the chain).
As long as there isn't a major flaw in the kernel, I don't see this happening. Although RH7 is a pretty old distro, I have used RH 7.3 just not with SCSI drives.

That's what I thought Skie...they're "mnt"ing to two totally different devices. They told me this but I think it may be a way to keep the more savvy folks from booting with a floppy.
Luckily I've acquired a SCSI external CD burner...have to test theory with it on my Linux box...also gonna figger out how to make an emergency LILO bootdisk for the one at work! Thanks!
