New Mandrake Internet problem
New problem now. Have gone back to Mandrake 10.1 from suse 9.2 and the Internet connection seems to be working in a vague way. I can access Mandrake updates, the Mandrake links provided with the browsers and not much else, I have tried Google / GRC.com and Ebay and only GRC works the others just sit there for ages and then time out, the ones that do work are very slow. I am using a D-Link wireless router (dsl g604t) which is hard wired to my machine on a 2Mb ADSL connection using PPPoA with port 25 blocked by the isp. I have tried it with the routers firewall on and off and Mandrakes firewall off with no difference, my other machine is wirelessly (is that a word?) connected to the router at full speed using XP pro no probs and even this machine is ok on XP (Microsoft is great ;-) ) as suse was working at full speed also it is obviously a setting or error within Mandrake!?
Any answers would be spiffing (i'm sure this must be common but can't find an answer)

This is pretty strange. The only thing that I can think of is that your network card isn't setup properly. Also, I don't know if you've enabled a firewall on Mandrake, but if you did, try disabling it and then testing. As long as you're not blocking anything on that machine and as long as the network card is setup properly, you should be working fine.

Tried without Firewall , no change. Anything to look for or do to find if network card is'nt configured properly? It has been correctly identified by Mandrake.

Open a terminal window and as root, type: ifconfig -a
Paste the results here. Also, look at your /etc/resolv.conf file and paste that here.

I've been trying to figure something out here. Though you have a wireless router, your connection is wired, correct? Now what I'm wondering, is it possible your system is finding a wireless connection in the area, and bypassing your ISP? (stranger things have happened) I'd try setting up with antennas removed if this was suspect.
