Routers??
I have just installed Mandrake 10.1 as a dual boot with XP and am having trouble getting my BT Voyager 100 modem going with Mandrake, I was wondering if I was to buy a Router it would solve my problems, I have a home LAN with two pc's connected together without the use of a hub with one internet connection sharing with the other, I have dual booted them both with XP and Mandrake, and the machine which is internet connection sharing will connect without any configuring to the internet as long as the other is in XP. Any thoughts please?

Hoe does the voyager connect to the computer, since I haven't researched that yet.

Direct to USB with a connection from the modem to the telephone socket via a microfilter (what more can I say), Mandrake doesnt seem to "see" it though, it lists my Wingman joypad as attached but not the Modem. I am on a 2Mb ADSL connection which is very reliable. I am going to get a router in the next couple of days so if you think this is the answer I will wait until then.

You would have to find a router that would work with USB DSL modems. I personally haven't seen any that did. I also believe that Linux doesn't play well with USB DSL modems. Not saying it can't be done, but it's a bit harder to do. There was another thread on here regarding the BT 100 Voyager modems, but I can't find it for the life of me.

ok, not that i know all about routers and cable/dsl modems, but your modem is seriously screwing you over.
perhaps you could find one with an actual cat5 socket on it.... then you could simply run a network cable to a network card, and be set. bringing odd usb modem standards into the mix makes things hard with linux, mostly because none of the major companies care if their product works with linux. USB networking is a dog.

Here's the one you may have been thinking about. Doesn't look like any help though. Help installing BT Voyager 100 on Suse 9.2
