HELP! External Hard Drive Problem
Please help! my 80GB external laptop hard drive failed. windows xp saw it as RAW file system. when i ran chkdsk on windows, i got an error. i tried formatting, but format could not be completed. i used testdisk to rebild the boot sector and MFT. still formatting could not complete. i then booted an ubuntu live usb, ran mkfs.ext3, then unallocated it and formated to ntfs using gparted. now when i connect it to windows xp, it see it as RAW file; and testdisk and partition magic cannot see it, and when i run chkdsk in windows i get "cannot open volume for direct access". though drive capacity can be seen in windows computer management as a blank file system. please how can i get the drive to start working properly and accessible as an ntsf filesystem in windows? thanks in advance!!!
