Logical partition gone wrong
I wanted to install a dual boot for my older machine running xp pro because I got it from someone who built it but used a 7GB main drive and 40GB slave but I have been trying to image the smaller drive to the main drive but it partintioned my bigger drive so I still have drive space issues because my drive is full only like 120mb left on it. So I tried putting OpenSUSE linux on my extra big partition that it has but encountered errors so I went and loaded windows and reformatted the partition to delete the linux system to try another one that may work but when I partitioned it, I made it a logical drive instead of extended or primary and now my computer is stuck in grub mode but there is no linux on the system no more and cant get windows back to re format the drive back to a primary or extended any ideas?

Re: Logical partition gone wrong
Hi,
Let me see if I have a handle on this. You have two drives. One is 7GB's and the other is 40GB's. You have tried to install OpenSuse and that didn't go so well. You formatted with the windows disk. Now you have some partitions on each drive (I am not sure how many?) You also seem to have GRUB installed but no linux distro. Can you tell me how much of this is correct and what partitions you have on each hdd, and what partitions you want on each hdd, so that we can work on getting you what you want. Cheers!

Re: Logical partition gone wrong
I reconfigured my cmos to run off my smaller drive instead of the drive that I tried installing linux. It loaded windows fine and I formatted the linux partition to a primary and wiped it clean. I then made a start cd for ubuntu linux and configured my boot to go to my cd then installed ubuntu onto my empty partition and it works well right now but thank you for trying to help me I just played around with it until I got it
