Linux install issue

I recently attempted to install Red Hat Linux 6.0 on an older computer. I followed the steps exactly as they were written in my reference book and when I was done and rebooted the computer I just got a full black screen with just an (I) and a blinking line on the top left corner of the screen. Anyone know what that might be about?

Hi,

Are you given any type of login prompt? That would normally be what would happen if the x-windows server doesn't kick in automatically?
