Is there anything beyond unplugging the mouse and keyboard that can be done to temporarily disable them remotely?
I'm a... 'system administrator' for a small community center in my area and I'm more or less looking for a way to disable the keyboard and mouse so they won't start typing in the terminal I have opened from home... it's bothersome and my only options are either shutdown the computer remotely, or wait until they get bored... |

Re: Quick Question...
Hi,
I would start by changing the permissions on the systems that are running linux. If you are the sys admin, then they can't get to different programs. I would start with looking at this for more info on permissions. There is also the thought that you can change the group that people can log into. For instance on my linux computer I am able to log into the users group, but I am also part of the root group too. You might want to change the group that people are logged into, and what they can do. A third thing is to remove Terminal all together. That way they would have to have a flash drive or livecd to boot with that you allow them to access terminal, and that is an involved process that I wouldn't want to try on someone elses computer. Cheers!
