Backtrack 3 - Sony Vaio
Hi,
I'm a windows support technician and i've decided to pop over to the other side (linux) to see how you guys do it. Trouble is, I'm not getting very far. I've picked a Sony Vaio Laptop and Backtrack 3 for testing my WIFI security ![]() I've booted Backtrack 3 (can't manage backtrack 4 as my PC won't boot from my USB stick (no bios support) and Only a CD rom drive) Problem is that my PCMCIA card which is a Netgear WG511V2 and is apparently supported by Backtrack, doesn't get detected. I have checked in KINFOCENTRE and I notice that under PCMCIA there is no controller detected. I assume this is the problem. After trolling through Forums with no luck, I have posted here. Please can someone talk this newbee into sorting this problem? I feel a total plonker for asking what would be a VERY simple problem for me to sort out in windows. Are ther any other names you want me to call myself beforehand? (uh oh - here come the suggestions!) Paul |
