Problem connecting to google
Hi, first of all apologies if this is the wrong place to post it, but I thought I'd post here in case it was something Linux-specific.
The other week I installed Opera on my machine (Ubuntu 9.04), but was unable to get it to connect to anything other than Google (supposedly a common problem), anyway, I saw this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1148100and decided to uninstall it then reinstall it using the method in post #5. When I loaded up Opera and went to Google I got a blank page with "I am alive" in text, I figured Opera was at fault, and uninstalled it again, however, when I went to my homepage in Firefox (Google.com) I got the same message. I was, however, able to access other sites, and Google variants (.ca, .co.uk, .ie, etc) and use the Google search tab. About give minutes later Google was working fine and I haven't had any problems since. After reading this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1123275&page=3 I've started worrying it could be a router hijack (I have a wireless router which several members of my family connect to, my machine connects to it via ethernet, though) however nobody else in the house was on at the time, and as I said, Google is now fine, I've changed the username and password on the router, though. |

Re: Problem connecting to google
Hi,
I am not to sure as to what you would like us to do for you. I don't really see a question there just a lot of information leading to a question, that isn't there. Cheers!
