Re: Second chance

Well, I know there are 2 processors, but I don't know what kind they are. My computer guy told it has 1 "stick" of memory, whatever that means. The only operating system on it now is Ubuntu. All others have been deleted.

Re: Second chance

if you take special care when the PC is starting up it should tell you what CPU you are using and how much memory. you may also find some details in "BIOS" Memory is usually listed but CPU's may only be on newer Mobo's

when you booted from the CD you should have seen & responded to the screen

then arrived at this screen

hitting F4 at this point should have allowed you to select "safe graphics mode"

try to see if you can get it to run without installation .. it's slow so be warned but quicker than the install

Re: Second chance

The safe graphics mode got me past that second screen on the 9.04 CD. I'll let you know what happens next.

Re: Second chance

ALL RIGHT!!! I think that did it! I'm in. Thank you so much for your patience and help! If I have any more problems (as I'm sure I will) I'll be back. Thanks again!

Re: Second chance

Good Luck with the rest .. I'm sure you should have no problem but I am worried that you may not have sufficient memory so it may run slow!

Sorry if I caused confusion. Was not asking for help. I have been using/testing Karmic (v9.10) since Alpha 4. Just trying to suggest it may not be right for his particular situation.

Re: Second chance

No problem .. it was more likely that I got confused than that someone else caused it .. I cannot see where you wrote anything that was not correct, so I must have caused the confusion myself .. sorry .. hope I caused no offence and certainly none was implied.
