Linux on netbook issue

Okay, here goes.

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron Mini 10. After using Windows for a while I decided to try installing Ubuntu. I use Ubuntu on my desktop (Dell Dimension 3000) and wanted to try it out on the new laptop.

The first issue I ran into was that Ubuntu didn't seem to support the Mini 10's widescreen display. After much searching I finally found a way to get Ubuntu to display at the correct resolution. Now, I have a new problem. Ubuntu freezes without warning. Whenever I start the PC, Ubuntu will freeze within an hour (usually within the first 15 minutes). There's no consistency to it and it doesn't appear to be connected to any of Ubuntu's applications. It happens regardless of anything I do. Surfing the net, listening to music, watching videos, or just letting it sit idle. There's no pattern.

I'm wondering if this is a common problem and, if so, is there a solution or am I going to have to reinstall XP?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Linux on netbook issue

When it freezes, try pressing Alt-F1. Does that do anything?

Thanks for you reply sultanqasim.

When the PC freezes nothing works. No keyboard commands, no mouse, nothing.
