For Windows to Linux Solution: Virtualbox.org
Most Linux distributions these days do have a Live CD that basically loads linux right off the CD so you can test drive each distribution. And in the end you decide which one is more appealing in the end. Whether you're going for user-friendly Ubuntu/OpenSUSE into technical Fedoria/Debian; or hardcore Slackware :P Regardless.
For those Windows XP and above people. There is a nifty program called Virtualbox made by Sun. It basically let's you run a guest operating system on top of your current operating system. I basically use this method because I'm a gamer and for now Windows is the staple multimedia operating system. I run my linux server on Windows 7. The linux server can do all that I need it to do. Run e-mail pop accounts, linux shell accounts, websites, merchants, whatever. Granted there's probably a little tweaking here and there but still. It makes it easier for those of us who might be running Windows Server 2008 and a Linux server on one machine. I recommend it highly. |
