[SOLVED] Samba / Windows AD / account and group ID's don't match

We lost a linux server today and are attempting to bring it back online. Everything is working except the samba shares due to a permission issue.

The problem is that the user and group IDs on the rebuilt server don't match the IDs of an existing and functioning samba server.

Does anyone know what can cause a UID/GID mismatch?

It seems like the GID/UID's should come from the Windows domain controller but something is off here.

Re: Samba / Windows AD / account and group ID's don't match

The more I read on this I think the issue is winbind and not so much on Sambas side. We had an example server to work from and the domains and information matches, I am baffled as to what could cause the GID/UIDs not to match here.

Re: Samba / Windows AD / account and group ID's don't match

We finally sorted out the cause of our issue here.

If you are using Samba, with winbind, and ADS authentication you need the kr5b server piece installed.
