Dual Boot With Vista on an HP Pavilion

I am an owner of an HP pavilion dv6910us laptop. I currently have vista instaled. In the past, I made the mistake of overwriting vista with xp since i hate vista, but I didn't realize that HP doesn't provide the necessary drivers for my laptop that work with xp. I am fed up with vista and want to install Linux so I figure a dual boot would be the best option. I know there were some issues with the graphics card drivers(Nvidia GeForce 7150M) and a couple other hardware devices. If I were to install a dual boot with Linux on a Vista machine, would I have to download Linux drivers for my hardware, or would the vista drivers work? And if they wouldn't work with linux, is there any idea of where I could get HP pavilion laptop drivers for Linux?

Re: Dual Boot With Vista on an HP Pavilion

Hi,

When linux installs on a computer it installs most of the drivers that it needs. There might be a couple that you need to enable such at the nvidia drivers but for the most part you should be all set. So the simple answer to your question is that no the vista drivers wont work as they are windows drivers.

Cheers!
