Unknown model - inno3d 7600gt agp
By chance I have found that my new Inno3d 7600GT AGP card is not identified neither in /var/log/Xorg.0.log file nor in /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0 if the latest 173.14.12 driver is used. I just checked that using the old 96.43.07 driver, the same card is recognized flawlessly.
in 96.43.07: /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0 Model: GeForce 7600 GT /var/log/Xorg.0.log (II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA GPU GeForce 7600 GT at PCI:1:0:0 (GPU-0) in 173.14.12: /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0 Model: Unknown /var/log/Xorg.0.log (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Failed to determine GPU name (II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA GPU Unknown (Unknown) at PCI:1:0:0 (GPU-0) In fact I have not experienced any problem due to the unrecognized card, I just wish to report the phenomena. By the way, as an owner of a 7600gt (agp) card, is it worth using the latest drivers (optimized to newer cards) or is it better to use the drivers under 100.0.0? Best regards, -Andy
