Re: localhost login

Hi,

Let me see if I can help you here. I can see that your english isn't too good but that isn't a problem. I will try to explain everything so that you will understand. If you don't understand something just ask and I will explain it differently.

It sounds like you have installed Fedora but you come up with a screen that looks like this
Code:
login:wmorri
password:
That is normal. You wont see your password when you type it. That is a security measure so that people can't guess it based on the number of dots there are.

I am a little concerned about the dvd not opening. What have you tried to open it with a small peice of metal wire or a paper clip? That might open it.

I am not sure what you mean by there is no disk partitioning screen. That should have been taken care of in the install process.

As for the GUI you will need to type:
Code:
startx
at the prompt to get to the gui and then we can change some stuff so that it will login through the gui. But lets get you logged in first and go from there.

Cheers!

Re: localhost login

Hi,

Ok, do you still have the Livecd? If so you can try booting into that and see if the keyboard will work there. I am not sure what "writer" you are talking about. How are you getting the X error if you aren't logged in? I am not understanding that.

Cheers!

Trash Re: localhost login

Hi wmorri, the dvd is core fedora 11 64 so cannot boot live, and the dvd writer would not open, disconnected and then re-connected to open, and the 'X' error is at installation,

Re: localhost login

Hi,

Have you tried using a different keyboard if you have one. I am still not to sure about the X error. If this doesn't work I might recommend a reinstall.

Cheers!
