skype on ubuntu

complete beginner had Skype installed on Ubuntu but no
sound works fine on xp

Hi,

Welcome to TSF!!!

Ok I would start by checking your sound settings, and making sure that you can see your microphone or headset, and then make sure that you have the correct drivers installed. Are you trying to use anything like bluetooth or is this connected straight to your computer?

Thanks for that ,no bluetooth direct to computer,
as for drivers it was downloaded straight from site
for me by a linux user friend.

Hi,

I would make sure that you have sound to your headset. Then we can work on getting skype to see that it is plugged in.

also try to hook up speakers and not headset because i got a computer and it works with speakers but not headset.
