Ubuntu 9.04 wireless issues
A clients computer will not recognize and enable a Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster (MN: WUSB54GSC). But it will recognize a Netgear Wireless USB Adapter.
Already tried the Windows Wireless drivers utility, and since I tried that, it freezes upon starting. Any suggestions? ![]() (Linksys on left, Netgear on right) |

Re: Ubuntu 9.04 wireless issues
Hi,
Here is the thing with linux and wireless. It uses the chipset drivers more than the drivers for a specific model, ie WUSB54GSC. I would look and see what the chipset is that is in each of them and see if you can get the drivers for that chipset. Cheers!

Re: Ubuntu 9.04 wireless issues
Yeah, I bought a linksys adapter and it wouldn't even recognize it was plugged in. Then I got a... Belkin I think--too lazy too look atm just got home from Indy. Works fine now. I hope the website below helps. See, the chipset inside the adapter has to be supported by linux or it won't do anything but look pretty--assuming it's pretty.
The best solution is often the most simple. You'll probably need to get your client to buy another adapter or supply one yourself, maybe trade-in? I had this same problem with a wireless adapter AND my old printer (had the model above and the model below too lol). Still, not enough to keep me away from my beauty :-) https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...CardsSupported
