Hi,
Let me see if I have a grasp around what you want to do. You have a linux distro either F10 or RHEL 5. You want to install windows and linux in a dualboot. What program did you use to format your C: drive? Also, are you starting the windows isntaller from the cd or how are you trying to install windows? You shouldn't be getting a grub error if you are starting the cd/dvd correctly. Cheers!

Re: A Dual boot machine is not leaving me to Install Windows xp Freshly ( GRUB error
What I gather is the OP has Fedora 10 installed on the hard drive right now, but wants to remove that and install Windows XP then RHEL 5.
@OP: Have you checked to be sure the CD/DVD drive is the first item in the BIOS boot menu? Also, can you give us the exact GRUB error?

Re: A Dual boot machine is not leaving me to Install Windows xp Freshly ( GRUB error
I thought I would just leave this message here incase worse comes to worse or you get impatient but I had a problem similar to this before when I was attempting to install windows xp as my main os so I could then partition but was getting a black screen after attempting to load windows installer.
You will first need to back everything up which I would say you have already done, download Darik's Boot And Nuke (DBAN) from here, writing it to disk, booting it and let it do it's job. After this you will have a clean drive that you can destroy.. I mean install windows on. If you are trying to dual boot I would suggest letting windows use the whole drive and then partitioning the drive and give whatever desired space for the beautiful world of linux ;) Also a handy partitioning tool I've run into if you need it is called "Paragon Patition Manager". |
