Cry Weird startup Behaviour

Hi... This MIGHT be a hardware problem, I do not know, but I am posting it here as it may involve Linux and GRUB. I am having a really really bad time with my newly Ubuntu-ized desktop system.

It's a system I had a friend custom build from off the shelf parts so it is not branded. Anyway...

I installed linux and everything was working beautifully for about 4 days... then just today I tried starting it up and out of nowhere I got this error:

Grub Stage 1.5 (long delay) Read Error.

After this... sometimes it starts up, sometimes it does not. And it always takes a much longer time to start up. Sometimes the machine restarts in the middle of a start-up.

I don't know why it is doing this... Is it even Ubuntu or the hardware causing problems? Is it a power supply prob or is my HD dead or is GRUB the cause?

Please, any help will be appreciated and I will also throw in some prayers and Karma donations your way!! HElp!!

Re: Weird startup Behaviour

Ok...ran Ubuntu's memtest and it said that my 2 Gigs of DDR3 RAM had 116 errors. Is that a normal error rate? Could that be causing it?
