UBUNTU inside Vista (HAL! error)
Hi,
I downloaded Ubuntu iso file 8.04 (amd 64bit) and burnt it in a CD. Started Windows Vista, as it was the only OS installed in my system (DELL studio 1555, 64 bit processor). Inserted ubuntu CD in my CD-Drive and ran the auto-run. I choose to install Ubunto inside windows. everything went well, Ubunto get installed without any error, worked for around 10 to 15 minutes. And then got hanged. Nothing was working, not listening to any key press event. So, I had to do a hard-boot. while doing so, my huawei USB datacard was there plugged into the USB drive (Just thought of sharing if it could be the culprit). when UBUNTU started... I saw an error message, something like "error failed to initialize HAL!" Now nothing is working in UBUNTU... though I have no issue running VISTA. If is start UBUNTU... it hangs up and I must hard-boot to get my system working. Please help me out of this problem. Any suggestion invited. Please let me know the complexities involved in removing UBUNTU completely from my system (along with grub). OR help me to get UBUNTU working in my system. Thanks, Chandan |
