POP port 110 question! 30 seconds to access!!! HELP!!!

POP port 110 question! 30 seconds to access!!! HELP!!!

Hi,

Maybe somebody can help me.

My provider has two Linux servers, one RedHat and one Mandrake. I have email accounts on each of them.

For some strange reason, on the Mandrake server, email validation takes 30" everytime, while on the other validation is immediate. I tried telneting port 110 and on the Redhat, server reply is immediate, while on mandrake, when telneting, server response takes 30 seconds.

The provider insists that "nothing is wrong" and nobody else has complanied, (meaning I am plain stupid). But it is driving us crazy!

Telnetting other ports, e.g. port 25 takes 5-7 seconds to answer and port 21 answers immediately.

What can be wrong with the configuration of this server versus the other one???

Help!!!!!!

Sounds like a load issue to me. If the process is taking that long then its usually because the CPU load is really high on the machine you're trying to connect to.
