Re: Boot issue
Hi,
I am not as concered about the specs of your computer, that shouldn't make that much difference with linux. You are aware that 8.04 is outdated now too. The current version is 9.04 and the LTS (Long Term Service) is 8.10. I would recommend that you try one of those. Also when you do the install make sure that you erase all of the linux partitions or choose the option to install over all linux partitions. Cheers!

Re: Boot issue
i fixed it myself i edited /boot/grub/menu.lst and commented out the one that wasn't loading correctly
i have had ubuntu cd for a while now i installed it when i got it but my hard drive died when i got a virus on windows it destroyed my whole hard drive so i had to get a new one the other day i reinstalled it again and got rid of windows to use ubuntu as my main os now i am having problems with my graphics card ubuntu wont detect it every time i restart my computer it tells my its gone into low graphic mode and it didn't detect my monitor or my graphics card i select my graphics card from the list but when i click test the screen shows lines across the screen but when i click ok it works fine but i am stuck in 800x600 mode which is a pain in the *** i uninstalled all the drivers and installed envy and installed the drivers from there but still have the same problem i think i will just stick with 6.06 Thanks for all your help anyway |

Re: Boot issue
Also, would you mind posting your menu.lst file? Curious which entry you actually commented out.
Code:
cat /boot/grub/menu.lst
