Re: installed printer driver mfc240c does not work
From my experience with Linux, it has trouble with drivers. I'm assuming you're not attempting to use a Windows driver, because they generally don't work. It likes HP Printers a lot, but I didn't recognize your model number.
Has this been fixed? |

Re: installed printer driver mfc240c does not work
I used these instructions and was printing in minutes:
"I Opened the terminal and did as follow, go 1 by 1," sudo mkdir /usr/share/cups/model (even you don't see anything going on just go on the next) then type: sudo ln -s /etc/init.d/cupsys /etc/init.d/lpd Then: sudo mkdir /var/spool/lpd and then here you'll see.. as you do this: sudo apt-get install tcsh sane-utils "AFTER THE PROCESS IS DONE WITH THE TERMINAL,,CLOSE IT AND DOWNLOAD AS FOLLOW" Here I veered since Ubuntu 9.04 does package installs easily. I Downloaded THIS file to the desktop: http://www.brother.com/cgi-bin/agree...ng=English_lpr Then I downloaded THIS file to the desktop: http://www.brother.com/cgi-bin/agree...ng=English_gpl Then I double clicked on the first and ran the installer and when it was done I double clicked on the second file and ran the installer. I am going to work on Scanning tomorrow. Faxing is NOT an option with the 240c. |
