ubuntu 9.04 software start up
Hello everyone,
What I want to do is have 'ypops' start up when I click on 'Thunderbird' does anyone know of a way to make a program start when another program is started up? I think this should be pretty easy I am just not sure what file in 'Thunderbird 2.0' I could add a line to that would make this happen any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone knows of a way I can view what files are accessed when a program is started that could be a great help. Thanks Jason |

For your first question one way to do is acreate a new startup script, e.g. #!/bin/sh /usr/bin/ypops & /usr/bin/thunderbird Save it in your home folder , call it myscript, and make it executable e.g. chmod 755 myscript You need to be more articulate with your second question. If you start thunderbird, then /usr/bin/thunderbird is accessed, if you need to know what other files are running you can list the open files lsof will show this, man lsof is the manual page |
