login screen help
I loaded Ubuntu on a seperate partition so I could play with it and learn it. i am wanting to use it for a basic web/email computer. Anyway, i have never messed with Linux, it installed fine. Everything was working, but last night i tried to install the drivers for the audio (which didn't work) I got the video card drivers to work, installed XMCS (?) and WINE. After restarting, the login screen is gone and no I just have what looks like a "safe mode" load and a command line asking for my user name and password. After i type these it goes to another command line, but doesn't load Umbutu. What happened to my login GUI? or is there a way to log in from the command line?
Thank you for any help, I'll be back later for the audio I guess. I just need to get back in to the OS. |
