cannot connect to the internet

I have a Motorola SURFboard SB5120 USB CABLE MODEM. When i tried to install the software for my modem it goes through like a test first and i past every test except one.... the test that i fail in says

"Active USB Port - Error"

I had made sure that everything is plug in about 20 times and i even tried proceeding with the installation but when i get to where it test the connection between my modem and my computer it will sit there for about 10 minutes then it will say that it cannot connect.

you have posted this in the Linux forum. Are you running Linux, and if so what distribution?

I am running SuSe and i have use Yast also to try to install it.

According to Motorola's website, your cable modem isn't supported under Linux.
