Re: Internet antivirus pro on pclinuxos 2009

Hi,

Viruses don't usually get to linux boxes, but that doesn't mean that they are immune from them. Any computer that is connected to the web is susceptible to to getting a virus. That being said I don't think that you have a virus. This program that you have internet antivirus pro, did it come pre-installed to PCLOS or did you install it? Would it be possible to remove just that program and then see if you are able to run firefox?

Cheers!

Re: Internet antivirus pro on pclinuxos 2009

Internet Antivirus Pro, also known as InternetAntivirusPro, is a complete scam. The software doesn’t work and it produces fake results from scans to scare the user. The software has been cloned into Antivirus Security.

Re: Internet antivirus pro on pclinuxos 2009

Also... 'internet antivirus pro' runs by .exe/.dll files and installs itself within the registry. Linux (including PCLinuxOS) does not use a centralized registry as MS does. Nor do .exe files run on Linux (excluding Wine).

Please provide a proof pic by taking a screenshot of the program. Thanks.

Re: Internet antivirus pro on pclinuxos 2009

I can not take a screenshot. When I click on firefox it pops up & locks up. It wants you to install. I can not do a thing. Is there a way to uninstall this thing? I have used linux for 4 or 5 years with no problems. Thanks Fred.

Re: Internet antivirus pro on pclinuxos 2009

By lock up, you mean to the point you have to hard boot the pc or are you still able to use the keyboard?

If you're able to use the keyboard, please open firefox, let it freeze, and press CTRL+ALT+F2

You should be at a console. Login and then run 'top'. Give it a second to refresh the list and then, if you would, tell us what programs are running.

If you can't use the keyboard, it would be very helpful if you could take a picture (camera) of the screen.

Please take a screenshot of your computer with Firefox open, so that we can see that this is working. If that doesn't work then please do what Rome5 has requested.

Cheers!

Re: Internet antivirus pro on pclinuxos 2009

No you can't use the PCLOS disk to repair like in windows. I think that if you have everything running the way that you want it to leave it alone for a know. If you are all set with this thread please mark it as solved so we can move on to other threads.

Cheers!
