ubuntu 8.1 insane gpu temperature rise
just installed ubuntu 8.1 today, everything is working fine except my graphic card
I am using x1950pro. as soon as ubuntu boots up, my gpu's fan noise starts to rise, eventually it gets very loud, I can't get the temperature via aticonfig(I get "get temperature failed for adapter 0 - x1950 series) I tried using drivers from ati.com, and fglrx driver, both with same problem - loud fan noise caused by high temperature. ksensors says temp 1 33c temp 2 43c temp 3 34c, but when I touch my graphic card with my hand, it's definitely hotter than that. I don't know why this is happening, I don't even have visual effects on(I get artifacts on my screen when I try to do it =\, I am guessing it's because of the temperature) What could be causing this? this is worse than when I used to play 3d games on windows =( Last edited by asdf1819; 04-11-2009 at 06:36 PM. |
