The Zoom usb modem needs a special software driver that I don't have with
Ubuntu 8.10. I did find a modem graphic, called Gnome-ppp and used sudo apt-get install to download, uncompress and install in my version of linux. I found a generic linux program on Linuxant.org, but did not know how to download, uncompress and install for ubuntu 8.10 I looked at the zoom modem site and found a driver supposedly compatible with linux to run the zoom modem. Now I am stuck. Can anyone help?? John |

Re: Zoom 3095 usb modem on Ubuntu linux
What is the file type of the download(s)? If there is a .deb available, that should be your first choice. Otherwise, you'll probably be left with a tarball (e.g.: tar.gz) which is just source code for the package. You'll need to install them manually.
First install 'checkinstall' with apt-get Code:
sudo apt-get install checkinstall this is a decent how to guide. If you have any questions with installing or getting the modem to work afterward, just post back.
