Ubuntu 8.10
So iv'e been wanting to play with other OS's and I heard Ubuntu was a pretty simple version, ready to install any quite versitile. I went to Ubuntu.com and downloaded the newest version and read in a forum to just extract the archive to a CD, config. BIOS to boot from CD and go from there. I did all that and no luck, just a bunch of folders, ISO's and more archives. I did some more research and found I could make a bootable floppy with 2 files, one that was in the archive, and one I had to download, wouldn't it make sense to include all the tools to make a bootable CD or floppy in with the archive? Well I guess what i'm asking is, can anyone out there help me create a CD that I can put in, boot from, and install Ubuntu onto a clean formatted HDD I already have ready for it. I worked on it and Ruined about 4 CD's last night and would prefer not to waste any more. Thanks in advance.

Re: Ubuntu 8.10
If you downloaded Ubuntu from the official site, you will have an ISO file which you burn to CD as an image, not as regular data.
Full instructions on how to burn an image using the freeware InfraRecorder here.
