problems with amarok on unbuntu 8.10/updates

now i am having problems trying to get amarok to install.. when i select it through the add apps it keeps saying error. i figured out that i need to have libvisual-0.4 plugin but when i try to install the updates it says

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

then i try to manually run the command in the terminal and it says requested operation requires superuser priv.

Re: problems with amarok on unbuntu 8.10/updates

Hi,

I would recommend that you try to install amarok a couple of different ways. First I would recommend that you try in Terminal:
Code:
sudo apt-get install amarok
sudo password
install starts
If that doesn't work then I would try going to Synaptic Package Manager. To get to it you go to system -> prefferences -> SPM. Then you can do a search for Amarok. Then install it from there. It might also install some other packages and that is fine.

Cheers!
