Re: Partioning Help Wanted.

Hi,

I would recommend that you get the program GParted. You can download the iso file and then burn a livecd from it. This is a great program that you can use to partition your hdd, and the one the I recommend that you use. Once you have that program on a livecd then I can continue to help you, because you will be able to see what partitions are on your computer.

Cheers!

Re: Partioning Help Wanted.

The livecd will allow you to partition outside of of Ubuntu. I don't like or recommend that you partition inside an OS. It can lead to some dire consequences, in my experience.

Cheers!

Re: Partioning Help Wanted.

I changed things up a bit. Because of my skill level. I was advised not to go with Arch Linux instead stick with Ubuntu for now. I made a Live CD of Ubuntu and was told it has a partitioner. I also have another computer beside me. So when i get to the partitioning stage you can help me there. IS that okay?

Re: Partioning Help Wanted.

If you want to you can just install ubuntu with the Ubuntu livecd. It has a great installed and if you have any questions about it then feel free to ask. But whoever told you to stick with Ubuntu is probably right. I don' know how much experience you have but, if you are still a greenhorn to linux Ubuntu is the way to go.

Cheers!

Re: Partioning Help Wanted.

You don't burn a .iso file to a disc as a file. It's an image file, it extracts and burns at the same time and you get a bootable disc.
Go to http://www.imgburn.com/ and read the guides and use it.

Re: Partioning Help Wanted.

Hi,

Do what grimx says. I was under the impression that you new how to burn an iso. I guess that is what I get for trying to wright while being so tired. If you aren't too sure about something then feel free to ask a question. That is what we are here for.

Cheers!

Re: Partioning Help Wanted.

Usually you just right-click on the iso with your mouse and choose "open with" .. if you have software that can handle the file and has already been associated with that task it will show you the options available in a new pp up menu .. if you have no programs associated with it then you get the choice to browse to your CD/DVD writing software.
